Dear Church Family and Friends,

Today is Good Friday. How can we possibly call it "good" when our Lord was crucified? Because His vicarious death brought about the greatest good we could imagine— the forgiveness of our sins and reconciliation with a holy God. Tonight we will worship and reflect on the love of God in that Christ suffered and died for our sins. J.C. Ryle has a helpful meditation on this fact:

He suffered not for His own sins, but for ours. He was eminently our substitute in all His passion. This is a truth of the deepest importance. Without it the story of our Lord's sufferings, with all its minute details, must always seem mysterious and inexplicable. It is a truth, however, of which the Scriptures speak frequently, and that too with no uncertain sound. We are told that Christ "bore our sins in His own body on the tree,"— that He "suffered for sin, the just for the unjust,"— that "He was made sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him,"— that "He was made a curse for us,"— that "He was offered to bear the sins of many,"— that "He was wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities,"— and that "the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (1 Peter 2:22, and 3:18. 2 Cor. 5:21. Gal. 3:13. Heb. 9:28. Isaiah 53:5, 6.)

May we all remember these texts well. They are among the foundation stones of the Gospel. Amen.

Here are a few more reminders as we enter Easter weekend:

REMINDER: We are still worshiping in the Family Life Center as construction wraps up.

Good Friday Service tonight at 6 pm

Please plan to join us as we focus on the cross of Christ.

Easter Sunday Services & Fellowship Brunch
We will have our normal worship services at 8:30 am and 11:00 am. There will be an Easter Fellowship Brunch in the Family Life Center at 9:45 am.

To prepare for a wonderful Easter Sunday at Cornerstone, we need your help! Here are a few things you can do to help:

  • Arrive early to make sure there is enough seating for your family.

  • Please fill in all seats and make room for other families and individuals.

  • Come in one car per family if at all possible.

  • There will be men in the parking lots on Sunday to assist and drop-off will be available at the FLC main entrance.

  • Please click here to sign up to bring something for the brunch.

Flowering the Cross
We will continue the tradition of decorating a large cross on Easter morning in front of the Family Life Center. Please bring cut flowers from your yard, or that you purchase, to Flower-the-Cross! This will be a beautiful symbol to remind us of the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord and to show the beauty of the cross to our congregation and our neighbors. Please bring flowers before the Easter Service that you attend and simply put them in the cross. As you participate in this tradition with your family, remember and perhaps recite the wonderful truth from Matthew 27:32-56.

  • You can bring any flowers that you like.

  • Please bring your flowers on either Friday, before the Good Friday Service, or Easter Sunday.

  • As you start this new tradition with your family, remember and perhaps recite the wonderful truth from Matthew 27:32-56.

I'm looking forward to worshiping with you on Friday and Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
