Dear Cornerstone Family:
On Sunday, we will arrive at Psalm 100 in our summer series on the Psalms! In the year 2018, we started with Psalm 1 and have studied 12 sermons in the Psalms together each summer. One of the benefits of visiting the Psalms each summer is that we are exposed to several different types of Psalms. Some Psalmists ask some very difficult questions amidst suffering. Other Psalms contain a plea to God to fight on behalf of His people and administer justice. There are Psalms that have confession of sins and call upon God's mercy. And then there are Psalms that simply praise God for His creation and His work of redemption. We have been blessed to have spent these summers with the Psalmists, praising and crying out to God in all circumstances.
On Sunday, we arrive at a "Psalm for Giving Thanks.” Rather than waiting until we pass the turkey around the table in November, Psalm 100 calls us to a life of thanksgiving as we praise God for all that He has done.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
it is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
See you Sunday!
