Newsletter July 17, 2026

Dear Church Family and Friends,

This Sunday will be a special Sunday at Cornerstone as we will highlight our missions and outreach initiatives and partners. Specifically, we have Seth Lewis visiting us from Ireland in the first service and a brother serving in a sensitive area in Europe during the second service. Additionally, we will hear reports from our Warm Springs and Quiet Water summer teams during Sunday School. 

Older children (3rd Grade and up), students, and adults will have a combined Sunday School hour in the sanctuary to hear from our summer mission teams and our friend serving in southern Europe. This will be a great time for us to learn of the Lord's work both among us and around the world. 

Please make plans to attend! These types of opportunities help us remember to pray and support the ministry of Cornerstone and the Gospel-partnerships we have locally and around the world.

Cornerstone Prayer Requests

Pray for church members caring for family - Susan Dupré, Emily Hinson, Kyle Mosier, Paul Poppe, Kim Sweatt, Paul and Christina Wendorf.

Pray for healing - Tom Armstrong, Suzi Bolton, Kathy Cassis, Dawn Chenault, Tim and Gayle Ricks, Libby Stanfield, Steve Sedlack, and Annette Sweatt. 

Pray for our homebound friends - Betty Baldwin and Suzi Bolton.

Pray for Kathy Cassis and family at the passing of her husband, Bob Cassis.

Pray for our expectant mothers - Kerry McMillan (July), Kendra Muur (August), Amanda Pendergraft (September), Morgan High (December), and the Poppe family (adoption). 

Pray for our Missional Partnerships - Seth and Jessica Lewis - Missionaries to Ireland (UFM), Friends Serving in Southern Europe with Muslim communities, and Redeemer Church of the Shoals, Florence, AL (Pastor Mark Robertson).

Pray for our Phase 2 activities - Pray for wisdom for the committee, church leaders, architects, and contractors.

Announcements

Combined Sunday School - This Sunday in the sanctuary. We will hear from supported missionaries and our short-term mission teams. 

Senior High SNF - High School students, join us tonight from 6-8 pm for food, fellowship, and discussion at the Butler’s home. 

New Members Class - Begins Sunday, August 2, and meets during the Sunday School hour in the FLC. If you’re interested in becoming a member or learning more about Cornerstone, please contact the church office to sign up.

Dead Theologians Society - Cornerstone Men’s Theology Reading Group will resume meeting on Friday mornings in the FLC Lobby from 6:30-7:30 am, beginning August 7. We will be reading “The Wonderful Works of God” by Herman Bavinck; please purchase a copy online. More information and registration information can be found here. New members are always welcome!
