Newsletter August 7, 2026

Dear Church Family and Friends,

As many of you know, at the beginning of this year, we officially started a disability ministry. Jackie Edmondson came on board to be our first coordinator of this important ministry. In keeping with our mission to be a community that grows and cares, ministering to those in our community who are suffering from all kinds of disabilities is vital to our church's health.

But "disability ministry" does not quite capture the heart behind what we are trying to accomplish and where we see the Lord leading. Therefore, I'm happy to announce we have renamed the ministry to Living Stones Ministry: Building in Christ together.

Inspired by 1 Peter 2:4–5, the Living Stones Ministry is founded on the truth that Jesus Christ is the Cornerstone and His people are the "living stones," chosen by God and precious to Him. As we come to Christ, every believer—regardless of ability, age, or background—is made a living stone, being built together into God's spiritual house.

For many families impacted by disability, finding a church where they feel welcomed, understood, and fully included can be a significant challenge. Living Stones Ministry exists to help change that. We are committed to partnering with families by creating a welcoming, supportive, and Christ-centered environment where people of all abilities can worship, learn, serve, and grow together.

Here are some highlights of the ministry since January as reported by Jackie:

  • Luke 5: We have established monthly hikes, organized a volunteer work day to improve our trailer’s organization, promoted the ministry by branding the Luke 5 trailer, and successfully completed over 25 hikes in three days at Quiet Waters. We are also planning Sherpa training to involve more church members in assisting with hikes.

  • Quiet Waters: We took a team of nearly 40 volunteers, including youth and adults, for a week of family camp and held a debrief upon our return to discuss how to apply what we learned to our year-round ministry at Cornerstone.

  • The Living Stones Ministry Team: We have formed a “skeleton” crew to help get this ministry moving and are in the process of training volunteer “Buddies” to support our Sunday school classes, as well as creating “buddy bags” to aid children, youth, and adults when needed.

Looking ahead with Living Stones:

  • We are excited about the future of this ministry! We are currently working on a custom Living Stones logo, exploring options for respite care for parents and caregivers, and finalizing our mission statement: “To help families impacted by disability worship, grow, and serve together, glorifying God as Christ's living stones.”

  • If you feel led to help us in this ministry, please contact Jackie Edmondson. We would love to have you join our team as we seek to ensure that every individual and family knows they are valued, loved, and an essential part of Christ's body.

See you Sunday!
by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
