Newsletter March 20, 2026

Dear Church Family and Friends,

We are just a little over a week away from Holy Week. Holy Week traditionally begins on Palm Sunday when we remember Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. It ends on Easter Sunday as we celebrate the wonder and the promise of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As Pastor Russ wrote last week, our sermon passage for Holy Week will be 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 as we remember and emphasize the "first things" of the Gospel. It is so vital for us to be clear and precise when it comes to understanding the content of the Gospel.

One of the most essential things about the Gospel is that it is Christ-centered. There is no Christianity without Christ. Herman Bavinck, a 20th-century Dutch theologian, wrote a wonderful paragraph in his book, The Wonderful Works of God. He helps us meditate on this truth by stating:

Jesus was not the first confessor of the religion named after His name. He was not the first and the most important Christian. He occupies a wholly unique place in Christianity. He is not in the usual sense of it the founder of Christianity, but He is the Christ, the One who was sent by the Father, who founded His Kingdom on earth and now extends and preserves it to the end of the ages. Christ is Himself Christianity. He stands, not outside, but inside of it. Without His name, person, and work, there is no such thing as Christianity. In one word, Christ is not the one who points the way to Christianity, but the way itself. He is the only, true, and perfect Mediator between God and men. (p.263, The Mediator of the Covenant)

As we gather for worship this Lord's Day and as we anticipate Holy Week, let us strive to be ruthlessly Christ-centered and Christ-focused.

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson

Pat founded and led one of Florida’s largest privately owned companies. Rather than feeling a sense of jubilation from Pat’s business success—he sensed a deep desperation!  Eventually, Pat’s quest for contentment led him on an inward search for things that matter ultimately-- where he renewed his devotion to Christ and to serving Him fully!
