Newsletter May 23, 2025

Dear Church Family and Friends,

It is hard to believe that summer is upon us! This Sunday we will begin a new summer sermon series in the Psalms as has been our tradition for the last seven years. This Sunday, we will begin our study in Psalm 85.

Psalm 85 picks back up near the end of Book 3 of the Psalms. Book 3 consists of Psalm 73-89. Book 3 of the Psalms has been called "the dark book" because of the many psalms of lament it contains. Sometimes these types of psalms can be hard to study, but they are often not hard to apply because many of us have had to walk through hard times, and sometimes dark times, and this is where the psalms can be balm for our souls -- especially as these psalms give us language to wrestle with our circumstances and learn to pray to and before our heavenly Father. I'm looking forward to this study in God's Word this Sunday.

This Sunday is also an important Sunday as we send off our Associate Pastor Brian Russ on his sabbatical. Brian has served faithfully at Cornerstone for over nine years! This will be the first sabbatical of his ministry career. Please join me in praying for the Russ family as they prepare for a season of rest and renewal. Let's also continue to pray for them as they mourn the loss of Audrey's mom this past week.

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,
Pastor Wilson
