Newsletter August 8, 2025

Dear Church Family and Friends,

As a new school year begins, this also marks a transition time in the life of our church, with new ministry programming starting back up. One of the things that I look forward to this time each year is our Wednesday night discipleship ministry called FOUNDATIONS

This Fall, we are celebrating nearly ten years of hosting FOUNDATIONS on Wednesday evenings at Cornerstone. The idea began a few years after the church was particularized with the idea of having a mid-week time to gather for fellowship and discipleship. Besides some of the COVID and construction interruptions, this ministry has been vital to the life and growth of our community.

On Wednesday, September 10th, FOUNDATIONS will begin for the Fall of 2025. It will run for 10 consecutive weeks with a break the second week in October for Fall Break for many of our families. FOUNDATIONS begins at 5:30 pm with a fellowship meal in the Family Life Center. Be on the lookout for some church-wide communications with an opportunity to sign up for the meal for you and your family. You are welcome to attend the discipleship opportunities, which run from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm, even if you choose not to eat.

One of the chief things we desire at Cornerstone is spiritual growth. We want to be a community of Christ's followers who grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus and His Word. To that end, FOUNDATIONS is an excellent opportunity for you and your family to grow. Here are some of the opportunities this Fall.

  • For adults, there will be two opportunities. The first is “Who is Yahweh?” The Westminster Standards’ Teaching on God, taught by Pastor John Summers. This class will focus on the doctrine of God.

  • Also for adults, Gospel-Shaped Marriage. This class will be facilitated by Pastor Wilson Shirley and Ruling Elder Mark Hunscheid. Participants will also get to hear from other seasoned couples about their experiences in marriage. This class is designed for couples but is open to all adults.

  • For students (grades 6-12), they will be exploring The Parables of Jesus.

  • Our children (prek-5) will continue their study in the catechism as they grow in their understanding of who God is and what He says in His Word.

The nursery will be provided for our young children. We desire that these evenings be encouraging and helpful to the WHOLE church family. Please make plans to attend beginning September 10! Contact the church office if you have any questions.

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
