Newsletter November 21, 2025

Our Advent Series, Psalms of the Nativity, begins next Sunday, November 30.

Dear Church Family and Friends,

This Sunday marks an important Sunday in the life of our church as we will hold the third congregational election for church officers since the inception of Cornerstone.

The nomination and election of men to church office is a solemn duty of church membership. The Scripture informs us of this duty in the Old and New Testaments. In Deuteronomy 1:13, the tribes of Israel were called to “Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men, and I will appoint them as your heads." In the book of Acts, we find several instances of the gathered church called together to "pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty.” (Acts 6:3 ESV) Let us be in prayer for this sacred calling we have as the body of Christ.

We also see the church's response to this sacred calling. "And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.” (Acts 14:23 ESV) Furthermore, the church is called to “Pray for [their leaders], for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things.” (Hebrews 13:18 ESV) Brothers and sisters, let us pray for our leaders and their families!

The congregational meeting will take place this Sunday at 9:45 am, the beginning of the Sunday School hour. Lord willing, we will proceed to Sunday School after the meeting, and then the elders will come around and announce the results of the vote.

See you Sunday!

by His grace and to His praise,

Pastor Wilson
