Dear Church Family and Friends,
“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Psalm 133:1 ESV)
Those were the final words sung at the 52nd General Assembly last night. I have freshly returned home and I'm happy to report to you that our dear denomination is still striving to be "Faithful to the Scriptures, True to the Reformed Faith, and Obedient to the Great Commission."
There are many, many articles and updates about the General Assembly that you can find online. ByFaith will report to you the many actions taken by the General Assembly. I wish to communicate to you my own experience.
The first word that comes to mind after the Assembly is unity. To me, there was a wonderful spirit of unity. Even in the midst of spirited debate, there was unity in a common mission and vision. I believe it was Randy Thompson who said, "Even with disagreement, there is love for all."
The other word that comes to mind is Reformed. The PCA has a rich history of adherence to Reformed Theology, which we believe is the theology found in the Holy Scriptures. I continue to be encouraged that even the debates we have at General Assembly are not over the majors of the faith, but they are ways that we are seeking to be always reforming. Clarity, precision, and Biblical are the words I would use to describe the matters we deliberate at the Assembly.
The last word that comes to mind is love. I love my denomination. It was the PCA that taught me the doctrines of grace through her college ministry, Reformed University Fellowship. I had countless conversations with young men who shared with me their same experience. For over 50 years, the PCA has been attracting young people to the faith, not with lights, not with fog or any other worldly accouterments, but with the same ole Gospel of Grace. It is the Spirit of God, through the Word of God, that continues to build His Church!
I love the Church! I love the PCA! I love Cornerstone! And I'm thankful to be associated with such a wonderful denomination and my beloved local church. I look forward to worshipping with you this Lord's day!
by His grace and to His praise,
Pastor Wilson

Note from the Russ Family
Thank you for your prayers, cards, and support over the last few weeks since Audrey's mom passed into glory. Last weekend, there was a wonderful service in Anderson, SC, that remembered her and glorified God. It was full of hope and comfort in the words, prayers, and hymns in the service, as well as the presence of extended family and friends. We are thankful for all of you, and we will see you real soon!
